JOHNIC CONSTRUCTION

Johnic Construction is a personal blog opened and managed by an individual.My name is john  an engineer by profession from thika technical class of 2018. My passion for building came along after i completed  high school in the year 2013.I used to work as a casual in construction sites before joining thika technical in the year 2015. I did my diploma course for a period of three years.

For the little period have been in the construction industry  i have met different clients who some of them have knowledge in the construction industry because they have had an experience in building while others lack .

Its challenging for someone who wants to start a project may be a residential house or a commercial one and has no idea where to start.The aim of opening my blog is to help such people  by writing informative,helpful and educational content touching mainly the construction industry.

Services that i will be offering apart from writing informative articles will be;

FOUNDATION ON BLACK COTTON SOIL

Black cotton soil is mostly found in the central and western parts of kenya.  Black  cotton soil is favorable  for producing cotton plant. It is also referred to as expansive soil because it tends to expand when wet  and shrinks during dry period. its good to understand that not all black soil expand and not soil that expand is black Building a foundation on black cotton soil is too risky and caution should be taken before any work commences. Shrinking and swelling of the cotton soil is the main problem in the construction industry, when dry its very hard but it losses strength completely when wet. Swelling creates upward pressure on the structure and shrinkage creates downward pull. This movement causes development of cracks in foundation walls and roof.
